──Apr 14 , 2022Interpretation of the Characteristics of Hot-Pushed Elbow Forming Process

The hot push elbow forming process uses a dedicated elbow push machine, core die and heating device. The blank placed on the die moves forward under the push of the push machine, and is heated, expanded in diameter and bent into shape during the movement. The deformation characteristics of hot-pushed elbows are determined based on the law that the volume of metal materials remains unchanged before and after plastic deformation. The diameter of the tube blank used is smaller than that of the elbow. The deformation process of the blank is controlled by a core die, allowing the compressed metal at the inner arc to flow and compensate for the thinning of other parts due to expansion, thereby obtaining elbows with uniform wall thickness.

Hot-push elbow

The hot-pushed elbow forming process features an attractive appearance, uniform wall thickness and continuous operation, making it suitable for mass production. Therefore, it has become the main forming method for carbon steel and alloy steel elbows and is also applied in the forming of certain specifications of stainless steel elbows.

The heating methods for the forming process include medium-frequency or high-frequency induction heating (heating coils can be multiple or single), flame heating and reverberation furnace heating. The choice of heating method depends on the requirements of the formed product and the energy situation.
